Clothes for Good has made a significant contribution of $5,000 to the Nasole Housing Assistance Relief Trust (HART) Community as part of its charitable efforts. This American-based organization is notably the first non-profit store in Fiji specializing in preloved clothing, with locations in Nabua and Lami near Suva.
The profits generated from these two stores are reinvested into local charities to address community needs. Founder Hayden Ostrom emphasized that their business model is rooted in charity, aiming to uplift communities like Nasole HART and improve their living standards. By shopping at their stores, customers not only acquire quality clothing and footwear but also actively participate in making a positive impact in Fiji.
Ostrom mentioned that the recent donation will be directed toward enhancing security by repairing local fences, following a series of break-ins that have disturbed the peace of the community. He highlighted the importance of ensuring residents feel safe in their homes, especially for those who have experienced violence in the past. In addition, part of the funds will be allocated to repairing the community hall, which is crucial for children’s education.
Overall, this initiative showcases how businesses can contribute to local communities, reinforcing the notion that shopping can be a force for good. As Clothes for Good continues its journey, the hope is that its model inspires other organizations to adopt similar practices, fostering a spirit of generosity and community support throughout Fiji.
