A local nonprofit organization called Clothes for Good has made a generous donation of $1,000 to the SPCA Fiji Islands, which will aid in the construction of a much-needed outdoor enclosure for the shelter’s cats. This contribution is aimed at enhancing the facilities at SPCA, ensuring a safer and more livable environment for the feline residents.

The new outdoor space will allow the cats to enjoy the benefits of sunlight and a more natural setting while also increasing the shelter’s capacity to accommodate the growing population of animals in need. Clothes for Good, known as Fiji’s first preloved clothing store, operates in Nabua and Lami and reinvests its profits into local charities and causes.

Hayden Ostrom-Brown, the founder of Clothes for Good, expressed his pride in the partnership with SPCA and highlighted the impact shoppers have when they purchase items from their stores. “Every time someone shops at our stores, they’re not just purchasing clothing—they’re raising important funds for local organizations in need,” he said, adding that this donation marks the start of a long-term collaboration with SPCA.

The SPCA Fiji Islands, which faces many challenges due to limited resources, has expressed deep appreciation for the donation. A representative from SPCA stated that the support will significantly improve their facilities and enhance the lives of the animals under their care, hoping to inspire other businesses to contribute to this cause.

Ostrom-Brown, who also serves as the CEO of Call Centre My Kora, called on other businesses to join the efforts in addressing Fiji’s stray animal crisis. He emphasized, “If more businesses step forward, we can provide better lives for these beautiful animals.” The SPCA plays a crucial role in managing stray animal issues through various programs, including desexing, life-saving surgeries, and rehoming initiatives.

The partnership between Clothes for Good and SPCA Fiji Islands is a promising step toward improving the welfare of animals in the community. It serves as an encouraging example of how local businesses can come together to make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
