Clothes for Good announced a generous $5,000 donation to the Nasole Housing Assistance Relief Trust (HART) Community on Wednesday, reinforcing their commitment to charitable efforts in Fiji. This American organization operates as the first non-profit preloved clothing store in Fiji, with locations in Nabua and Lami, just outside of Suva.

The profits generated from the two stores are funneled back into the Fijian community to support local charities and causes that address necessary community needs. Founder Hayden Ostrom emphasized that the business model is fundamentally focused on charity, aiming to uplift communities such as Nasole HART and enhance living standards.

“Our initiative to support struggling communities seeks to invigorate societal well-being at the grassroots level,” Ostrom explained. He highlighted that every purchase made at their stores contributes directly to aiding those in need in Fiji. “We pride ourselves on being the first store in Fiji where all profits are dedicated to supporting local needs,” he added.

The donation will particularly aid the community by funding the repair of fences, addressing security concerns following incidents of break-ins. Ostrom noted, “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, especially in a community where many have faced violence.” Additionally, part of the funds will be used to upgrade a community hall that is currently leaking and requires repairs. This hall plays a vital role in the community, serving as a space for children to study.

With initiatives like these, Clothes for Good not only provides quality clothing options but also fosters a sense of safety and community improvement in Fiji. The ripple effect of their charitable actions promises a brighter future for many.

This story showcases the power of local businesses to make substantial contributions to their communities, inspiring hope and a spirit of cooperation in addressing societal challenges.
