A recent incident at the Yasawa Aerodrome involved a GA-8 Airvan aircraft, registration DQ-VAN, which experienced a miscalculated landing position. Fortunately, all six passengers and the pilot aboard were unharmed. The aircraft, which took off from Nadi Airport at 9:49 am, overran the runway during landing and stopped just beyond the runway strip.

In response to the incident, Viliame Gavoka, the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, announced the appointment of an investigator who will conduct a comprehensive inquiry following recognized procedures and international standards. The outcomes of this investigation will be essential for implementing any needed safety improvements going forward.

This incident is a reminder of the importance of adhering to aviation safety measures and protocols. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, highlighting the resilience and safety of modern air travel.
