Classroom Crisis: Yasayasa Moala College Calls for Help

Josefa Draunidalo, the principal of Yasayasa Moala College, has expressed the urgent need for additional teacher accommodations and more classrooms for students. Located in Naroi Village on Lau Island, the school has had to cease accepting new students from the nearby islands of Matuku and Totoya due to inadequate classroom space.

Draunidalo emphasized the long-standing necessity for teachers’ quarters, highlighting ongoing challenges in this area. The school is collaborating with alumni who are providing support regarding teacher accommodations, recognizing the importance of teachers’ welfare.

Currently, as the number of enrolled students rises, the college has halted enrollment from the two islands, citing the need for more classrooms to offer optional classes. The principal remains hopeful for future financial aid to address these pressing needs.
