Clash of Titans: Western Clubs Battle for Vodafone Cup Glory!

Western rugby league clubs are preparing for an intense competition as they take on teams from the Suva/Nasinu zone in the Vodafone Cup National Elimination Round at Lawaqa Park today.

A total of 16 clubs will compete, with nine from the Suva/Nasinu zone and seven from the Western region, all vying for a place in the upcoming quarter-finals of the Vodafone Cup.

The Western teams include the defending champions Saru Dragons, Ravoravo Rabbitohs, West Coast Storm, Namoli West Tigers, Waitaci Titans, Conua Kingfisher, and Laselase Cowboys. Each team has been diligently preparing for this pivotal moment in the tournament.

Jone Wesele, the Fiji National Rugby League West development officer, emphasized the Saru Dragons’ commitment to defending their title. He stated, “Saru Dragons want to defend their title, but there is also a strong challenge from other Western teams including Ravoravo Rabbitohs and Namoli West Tigers. The Western Clubs are not just there to make up the numbers; they are preparing thoroughly to win.”

Last year, only two teams from the West advanced to the quarter-finals, but this time they are determined to increase that number and secure more spots in the next round.
