There will be a rise in the prices of select cigarette brands starting Monday, as confirmed by Sam Dormor, General Manager of British American Tobacco Fiji, who attributed the changes to increased manufacturing costs. Specifically, Benson & Hedges Ice Burst 10’s will see a 10-cent price increase, bringing the total cost to $10.80. Meanwhile, Pall Mall Filter 10’s will climb by 50 cents, increasing from $7.50 to $8.00. Pall Mall Menthol 10’s will be priced at $8.60 from Monday.
Additionally, both the Benson & Hedges Ice Burst 20’s and Benson & Hedges Super Cool Burst 20’s will now cost $21.40. It is noteworthy that prices for several brands, including Benson & Hedges Filter 10’s, Filter 20’s, Smooth 20’s, and Pall Mall Suki Blend 10’s, will remain unchanged.
This price adjustment echoes broader economic conditions seen across various sectors in Fiji, with recent increases in fuel and gas prices also affecting consumers. The trend reflects ongoing pressures stemming from inflationary forces that challenge household budgets.
While these changes present potential difficulties for consumers, they may also encourage individuals to reconsider their purchasing habits and explore alternative brands or products within the market. By becoming more informed and adaptable, consumers can navigate these economic adjustments more effectively.
In summary, as Fiji faces higher cigarette pricing, the situation serves as a reminder of the need for consumers to stay vigilant and responsive to market changes, while also exploring new purchasing strategies that might align better with their budgets.
