CIFTIS 2024: A Glimpse into the Future of Global Trade in Services

China is taking significant strides in promoting global interest in services and trade, exemplified by the ongoing China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). Now in its 12th year, the fair was held from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing.

Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has evolved into a major global event for the services sector, and this year, it attracted participants from 85 countries. The presence of numerous embassies highlighted the event’s international appeal, although the absence of Fiji was noted, with hopes that the nation would participate in future editions to showcase its trade opportunities and unique cultural heritage.

Ninety journalists from 83 countries, including three from the Pacific Islands, were present in Beijing for the latter part of the China International Press Communication Centre program. They attended CIFTIS 2024, enabling them to report on the diverse experiences and stories emerging from the fair.

The atmosphere at the fair was vibrant, filled with innovative displays ranging from technology to cultural exhibits. Attendees encountered a plethora of products, including fashion items, souvenirs, and toys, making the venue bustling with activity and excitement.
