A team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is set to extract and verify information disclosed by a former police officer in a recently surfaced social media video that alleges the involvement of public officials in the illegal drug trade. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime, Mesake Waqa, stated that the next steps will be determined following the completion of this verification process.

Waqa emphasized that prior to the video’s release, the police had already initiated efforts to establish connections between individuals involved in the drug trade, adhering to the Commissioner of Police’s directive aimed at dismantling networks engaged in these illegal activities. This proactive approach signifies the police’s commitment to battling drug trafficking and associated corruption at various levels within the community.

This situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing the complex issues of drug-related crime and corruption. However, the investigative efforts bring hope for accountability and change within the system, reinforcing the importance of vigilance and ethical conduct among public officials.
