On Christmas Day, several areas in Fiji, including Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, are under a heavy rain warning. Additionally, there is a flood warning for regions prone to flooding near the Ba, Nasivi (Tvua), and Nakauvadra (Rakiraki) rivers.
The Fiji Meteorological Service has identified several areas at risk, including Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, the interior of Ba, Ra province, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri, Tailevu, as well as the Yasawa, Mamanuca, Kadavu, and smaller islands across Lau and Lomaiviti. The forecast indicates occasional to persistent rain, heavy at times, with chances of thunderstorms.
An active trough of low pressure continues to influence weather conditions across the country. Recent rainfall measurements from the last 24 hours show significant precipitation in various locations: Nadarivatu recorded 145.0mm, Lautoka Mill 135.5mm, and Rarawai Mill 132.0mm, among others.
