As the bustling Christmas rush subsides, Rizban Shah reflects on the lengthy hours spent on the road throughout the festive season, urging fellow motorists to prioritize safe driving. Mr. Shah embarked on a pre-dawn journey to Suva on Christmas Eve, departing from his home in Ba at 3 a.m. to deliver pineapples cultivated by his family’s farming business, which has been thriving for over 20 years.
“Christmas time is busy on the roads and people must be careful,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of road safety amid the holiday traffic. For Mr. Shah, this festive season is not merely about celebration; it also embodies a deep sense of responsibility, especially during a time when the demand for fresh produce surges.
While many prepared to enjoy Christmas Eve with family, Mr. Shah dedicated hours to driving—a familiar and accepted routine amid the season’s increasing demands. Although being away from his wife and daughters during the holidays is challenging, he embraces this sacrifice as essential for sustaining his family’s livelihood.
“I will return to Ba today to spend Christmas with my wife and kids,” Mr. Shah shared, looking forward to reuniting with his loved ones. His family’s farming enterprise has not only provided for several generations but has also reinforced family bonds through collaborative effort and dedication. “I am happy to provide for my family and serve our customers,” he concluded, reflecting the pride and commitment that has fueled his work over the years.
Mr. Shah’s story serves as a reminder of the dedication that many individuals display in supporting their families during busy seasons while also prioritizing safety on the roads.
