On Christmas Day, law enforcement authorities arrested six individuals in connection with drug possession across various locations.
A 38-year-old man from Nabua was apprehended with seven sachets of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. Similarly, a 24-year-old man from Qauia, Lami, was found in possession of a branch of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
In Valelevu, two men aged 44 and 40 from Vusuya, Nausori, were detained after police discovered two zip-lock bags containing a crystal-like substance thought to be methamphetamine. Additionally, a 52-year-old from Nakelo, Tailevu, was also found with 20 sachets of dried leaves seemingly linked to marijuana. Lastly, a 50-year-old unemployed man from Tomuka in Lautoka was arrested with five sachets of dried leaves under similar circumstances.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that the police remained vigilant during the holiday season, conducting drug checks at picnic areas and within communities. All six individuals are currently in custody and awaiting drug analysis as investigations proceed.
