On Christmas Day, six individuals were apprehended in connection with the possession of illegal drugs. Among those arrested was a 38-year-old unemployed man from Nabua, discovered with seven sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. Similarly, a 24-year-old unemployed man from Qauia, Lami, was found with a branch of dried leaves thought to be marijuana following a police search.
In another incident, two men aged 44 and 40 from Vusuya, Nausori, were taken into custody in Valelevu after police discovered two zip lock bags containing a crystal-like substance presumed to be methamphetamine. Furthermore, a 52-year-old man from Nakelo, Tailevu, was found with 20 sachets of dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil, also believed to be marijuana. Lastly, a 50-year-old unemployed man from Tomuka, Lautoka, was arrested for possessing five sachets of dried leaves wrapped in aluminum foil, suspected to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu stated that police continued their proactive checks for drug-related activities throughout Christmas Day. He emphasized that law enforcement teams would remain vigilant in public areas and communities to deter potential offenders. All six suspects are currently in police custody, pending drug analysis, as investigations proceed.
