As unfavorable weather approaches the country this Christmas, the Fiji Police Force is urging everyone to remain alert.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu has reported that water levels are rising in various regions, prompting a warning to parents to ensure their children do not play in flooded areas. “The Weather Office has issued an advisory for the upcoming days, and we are already receiving reports of flooding in certain locations. We urge all parents to keep their children away from these dangerous waters,” ACP Driu stated.
He emphasized that there have been instances in the past where parents faced consequences due to negligence regarding their children’s safety. “The police will be actively monitoring the situation and checking on flooded areas. It’s Christmas Eve, and we want to prevent any unfortunate incidents,” he added.
ACP Driu is calling for a collective effort among the community to keep an eye out for one another as we approach Christmas Day.
In summary, the Fiji Police Force is prioritizing safety during this festive season, highlighting the importance of vigilance amid potential flooding. This call for community awareness serves as a reminder that by looking out for each other, we can ensure a safe and joyful holiday experience for all. With these precautions, families can focus on celebrating the holiday together while staying safe.
