Chinese Embassy Grants $40,000 to NGO Supporting At-Risk Youth

The Chinese Embassy in Suva has provided a $40,000 grant to Inspire Pacific, an NGO dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk children and fostering community growth in Fiji.

Zhou Jian, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, presented the grant cheque to Ben Morrison, Co-Founder of Inspire Pacific, to assist the organization in its mission to empower young lives through initiatives like the TAGANE MAI Rehabilitation & Integration Program.

In his speech, Ambassador Jian praised the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection for its significant contributions under the Coalition Government’s leadership, particularly in the areas of women’s rights, child care and protection, and improving the livelihoods of vulnerable populations. He added that the Embassy is honored to support the Ministry’s Child Rehabilitation and Wellbeing program and help improve the lives of Fiji’s citizens.

Lynda Tabuya, Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, who hosted the event, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese Ambassador for their generosity and commitment to positively impacting the lives of young individuals in need. She emphasized that the donation would greatly assist in providing resources and support for Inspire Pacific’s rehabilitation programs for at-risk children.

Tabuya also praised Inspire Pacific for their dedication to creating a safe and nurturing environment for Fiji’s young children in need of rehabilitation and integration support. Inspire Pacific’s initiatives are in line with the Ministry’s mission to establish a Child Rehabilitation and Well-being Centre, which will care for and protect at-risk children, juveniles, and young street dwellers affected by drug abuse and crime.

This grant will aid Inspire Pacific in offering essential support for at-risk youth, helping them through a structured process of rehabilitation, personal development, and successful societal reintegration. The organization’s holistic approach integrates practical training, emotional support, and community engagement to help individuals overcome obstacles and build brighter futures.
