China’s Global Trade Showcase: CIFTIS 2024 Unveils Innovation and Collaboration

China remains a frontrunner in promoting global interests in services and trade. For the past eleven years, the nation has hosted the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), inviting participation from countries worldwide. The latest edition, the 12th CIFTIS, took place from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing.

Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has grown into one of the largest service fairs globally, and this year continued that trend with participation from 85 countries. However, it was noted that Fiji was absent from the event, which would have offered a valuable opportunity for trade and cultural exchange.

The fair also attracted 90 journalists from 83 countries, including three from the Pacific Islands, as part of a program by the China International Press Communication Centre. Their attendance allowed them to cover and report on CIFTIS 2024, enabling them to share stories and experiences from the event globally.

Attendees enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere filled with diverse displays, featuring shoes, clothing, design bags, toys, and souvenirs. The venue was bustling with visitors, making it a challenge to navigate through the crowds, but many left with purchases to remember their visit.

One booth stood out for its display of a friendly dog-like robot that captivated visitors with its responsive movements. This highlighted the advanced technology being showcased at the fair. Participants explored innovative digital services and eco-friendly tourism options, gaining insight into how different nations employ technology and creativity in the service sector. The event not only focused on products but celebrated international collaboration and the multitude of possibilities within the service industry.

CIFTIS 2024 proved to be an inspiring occasion for both attendees and journalists alike, fostering excitement and curiosity about the future of global trade in services. Participants left with a deeper understanding of the significance of countries working together to explore new ideas and improvements in this field.
