China is taking significant strides in enhancing global commerce through its service and trade initiatives. The nation has been hosting the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) for the past 11 years, attracting participation from numerous countries worldwide.
The 12th edition of CIFTIS took place from September 12 to 16 at Beijing’s China National Convention Center and Shougang Park. Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has emerged as one of the world’s largest service fairs, and this year’s event upheld that tradition.
Eighty-five countries were represented at this year’s fair, showcasing a diverse range of services and cultures. However, it was noted that Fiji was absent, which would have been a valuable addition to the event for both trade opportunities and cultural exchange.
Additionally, ninety journalists from eighty-three countries, including three from the Pacific Islands, participated in a related program at the China International Press Communication Centre. They attended CIFTIS 2024 to report on the event, sharing their experiences and insights with a global audience.
Attendees could explore an array of booths featuring lively displays and innovations, including new technologies and cultural exhibits. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with products ranging from clothing to souvenirs. The crowds were substantial, making navigation a bit challenging, but many visitors were delighted to purchase items as mementos.
One standout display featured an advanced robot resembling a friendly dog, which captivated onlookers with its responsive behavior. Such demonstrations illustrated the technological advancements present at the fair, highlighting innovations in areas like digital services and eco-friendly tourism. The event was a testament to the collaborative spirit among countries in the service industry, showcasing endless opportunities for learning and cooperation.
CIFTIS 2024 proved to be an inspiring experience for attendees, fostering excitement for the future of global trade in services. The event emphasized the importance of international collaboration and the wealth of talent that different nations can offer.
