China remains a leader in fostering global interest in showcasing services and trade. Over the last eleven years, the country has hosted the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), featuring participants from across the globe. The 12th installment of CIFTIS took place from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing.
Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has evolved into one of the largest service fairs worldwide, and this year continued that trend. The fair saw participation from 85 countries, although the absence of Fiji was noted, highlighting the missed opportunity for Fiji to engage in trade and share its rich culture.
A contingent of 90 journalists from 83 countries, including three from the Pacific Islands, attended the latter part of the China International Press Communication Centre program. Their attendance at CIFTIS 2024 allowed them to cover the event and share their experiences globally.
The atmosphere at the fair was vibrant, filled with diverse displays that captivated visitors. The event showcased new technologies, cultural exhibits, and a variety of products including clothing, accessories, toys, and souvenirs. The venue buzzed with energy, making it lively and challenging to navigate, leading to the purchase of memorable items.
One of the standout features was a robot resembling a friendly dog, which could react to gestures, illustrating the advancements in technology evident at the fair. The event was teeming with energy, spotlighting innovations in digital services and eco-friendly tourism, emphasizing the collaborative spirit among nations in exploring the service sector.
CIFTIS 2024 proved to be an inspiring experience for attendees, sparking excitement with its diverse displays and unique environment. It underscored the importance of international collaboration in the service industry, promising endless opportunities for learning and development.
Overall, CIFTIS 2024 was a remarkable experience, showcasing the potential for global cooperation and talent sharing in trade services.
