China is once again at the forefront of promoting global services and trade. This year marked the 12th edition of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), held from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing. Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has grown to become one of the largest service fairs in the world, attracting participants from 85 countries.
The event included a notable presence of various embassies, although the absence of Fiji was noticed. Fiji’s participation would have contributed to not only trade discussions but also showcased its rich culture and traditions.
Ninety journalists from 83 nations, including three from the Pacific Islands, attended the event as part of the China International Press Communication Centre program, which facilitated coverage of CIFTIS 2024. This gathering allowed journalists to share insights and experiences from the fair globally.
The atmosphere at the fair was vibrant, filled with engaging displays of new technologies and cultural artifacts. Attendees could explore a variety of products – from clothing and bags to toys and souvenirs. The venue was bustling, making it difficult to navigate, yet many attendees left with memorable items.
