China continues to lead in promoting global services and trade, hosting the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) for the past 11 years. The 12th edition took place from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing.
Since its inception in 2012, CIFTIS has grown into one of the largest international fairs for services, with this year featuring participation from 85 countries. The event offered a chance for many embassies to showcase their nations; however, Fiji’s absence was noted, as its participation could have enhanced the fair both for trade opportunities and cultural exchange.
The event also welcomed 90 journalists from 83 countries, including three from the Pacific Islands, as part of the China International Press Communication Centre program, allowing them to report on CIFTIS and share their experiences globally.
Visitors enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere filled with various booths displaying new technologies and cultural exhibits, including footwear, apparel, handbags, toys, and souvenirs. The crowds made navigation challenging, but many attendees left with memorable items.
Among the showcased innovations, one booth featured a robot resembling a friendly dog, which reacted to human interactions in surprising and engaging ways, illustrating the advanced technological landscape in China. The fair was not just a display of products but also a celebration of international collaboration in exploring the service sector’s potential.
CIFTIS 2024 proved to be an inspiring experience, fostering excitement and creativity among attendees. It highlighted the significance of cooperation in the service industry, revealing countless opportunities for learning and improvement.
Overall, CIFTIS 2024 showcased the future of global trade in services and emphasized the collaboration and sharing of diverse talents among countries.
