The Chinese Embassy in Fiji made a generous donation of $10,000 to the Fiji Women’s National Rugby Team in honor of International Women’s Day. During the cheque presentation, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian emphasized the strong partnership between China and Fiji in promoting women’s empowerment.
Ambassador Zhou remarked on the Fijian government’s commitment to safeguarding women’s rights and highlighted China’s role as a supportive partner in initiatives aimed at increasing women’s educational and economic opportunities. He stated, “This contribution to the Fiji Women’s Rugby Team reflects our firm commitment to women’s empowerment and will help them continue their legacy on the field.”
The donation was celebrated at a morning tea reception attended by First Lady Emily Lalabalavu and other prominent women leaders. Ambassador Zhou also referenced China’s previous support for Fijian women, which includes training programs and scholarships, indicating an ongoing commitment to fostering women’s roles in various sectors.
