China Signals New Trade Front with Fiji: What’s Next?

China is looking to expand its import of Fijian products into its vast market. During a recent visit to Suva, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Jian emphasized the need to capitalize on market opportunities.

“As China builds a unified national market with a population of 1.4 billion, it will further unleash domestic demand,” Ambassador Zhou stated. “This expansion will create opportunities for other economies, including Fiji. We anticipate importing more Fijian products, such as mineral water, skincare items, and noni fruits.”

He expressed confidence that economic and trade relations between China and Fiji will prosper and invited Fiji to take advantage of China’s extensive outbound tourism market.

Additionally, Ambassador Zhou suggested that establishing a direct flight between the two countries could be advantageous. “We hope for the launch of a direct flight soon, which would bring more Chinese tourists to Fiji,” he said.

He also mentioned that China is eager to collaborate with Fiji to harness opportunities from a new wave of technological and industrial advancements.
