A shipment of vital emergency supplies departed from Shenzhen Baoan International Airport on Wednesday evening. The cargo included essential items such as tents, folding beds, water purification equipment, solar lamps, emergency food, and medical materials. The flight is anticipated to arrive in Port Vila early Thursday morning, according to civil aviation officials.
In addition to these supplies, the Chinese government has pledged $1 million in emergency assistance to enhance Vanuatu’s disaster response and recovery operations. Li Ming, spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, made the announcement, highlighting China’s commitment to supporting Vanuatu during this difficult time.
Chinese Ambassador Li Minggang visited families of Chinese nationals who perished in the disaster, offering condolences and reaffirming ongoing support. To further assist with the recovery efforts, China has sent four engineering experts to Vanuatu at the request of the local government.
