The Chiefs have bolstered their squad ahead of the upcoming Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season by re-signing All Blacks Simon Parker and Leroy Carter, extending their contracts through to 2027 and 2028, respectively. This significant move comes just days before the Chiefs are set to face off against the Blues in their round one clash.

Both players will continue to represent their regions in the National Provincial Championship (NPC), remaining with Northland and Bay of Plenty for an additional two seasons. Carter, a former All Blacks Sevens star, expressed his excitement about staying with the Chiefs, stating, “I don’t want to play for another club, so it was a pretty easy decision. It’s a club I grew up wanting to play for, and it’s a dream come true.”

Parker, who made his All Blacks debut against Argentina in Buenos Aires, has achieved 35 appearances for the Chiefs since joining in 2020. The 25-year-old loose forward remarked on the importance of securing his future early, saying, “It’s quite nice to have some security knowing where you’re going to be for the next couple of seasons.”

As the Super Rugby season approaches, excitement is building. Round one will kick off this Friday with the Highlanders hosting the Crusaders at 6.05 pm, followed by the Waratahs taking on the Reds at 8.35 pm. The action continues on Saturday with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua facing Moana Pasifika at 3.35 pm, the Chiefs battling the Blues at 6.05 pm, and the Force hosting the Brumbies at 8.35 pm.

This early reinforcement for the Chiefs signals a positive outlook for the season ahead, as they aim to make a strong impact in the league. The commitment of both Parker and Carter not only strengthens their roster but also highlights the talent pool within New Zealand rugby, ensuring a competitive atmosphere in the upcoming matches.
