Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan has announced an unchanged starting line-up for the highly anticipated Super Rugby Pacific final against the Crusaders this Saturday in Christchurch. The Chiefs secured their place in the final with a solid 37-17 victory over the Brumbies, marking their third consecutive final appearance and reinforcing their competitive edge.

Looking at the forwards, George Dyer and Ollie Norris will take their places as starting props, while Samisoni Taukei’aho remains at hooker, pairing with All Blacks star Tupou Vaa’i in the second row alongside Naitoa Ah Kuoi. Wallace Sititi, the current All Blacks Player of the Year, will continue at number eight, accompanied in the back row by captain Luke Jacobson and Samipeni Finau.

In the back line, the dynamic Damian McKenzie will continue to lead the charge, working alongside Cortez Ratima in a promising half-back partnership. The centre combination features Quinn Tupaea and Daniel Rona, while Shaun Stevenson, who recently cleared concussion protocols from a head knock in the semi-final, will start at full-back alongside wingers Emoni Narawa and Leroy Carter.

Stevenson’s selection is particularly encouraging, as it marks his last match with the Chiefs before he embarks on a new contract in Japan later this year. With a few changes among the replacements, Aidan Ross and Etene Nanai-Seturo will join the matchday squad, giving the Chiefs further depth.

McMillan emphasized the importance of stability in his selection, stating, “We’ve built real continuity across the season, and that will serve us well in Christchurch. The Crusaders have proven time and again that they know how to lift in finals footy. They’re clinical, composed, and proud of their home record. We’re ready for a good final fight.”

This final is particularly notable as it represents another all-New Zealand finale in the Super Rugby Pacific era, further intensifying the rivalry and setting high expectations among fans. The Chiefs possess a blend of resilience and tactical discipline, making them a formidable opponent as they chase their first title since 2013. The anticipation surrounding this match is palpable, with fans rooting for the Chiefs to clinch a long-awaited championship victory.

As both teams prepare for the final clash, the atmosphere is charged with excitement, making for what promises to be a thrilling showdown. The Chiefs are not only focusing on their performance but also embodying the spirit and tenacity that defines rugby in New Zealand.
