The Chennai Bulls, consisting of captain Prashant Singh (known as Shiv), Sumit Kumar Roy, Ganesh Majhi, and Deepak Punja, are currently in Fiji for the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s tournament, where they are experiencing the vibrant rugby culture of the island nation. Despite being the only players from their Indian club present, the quartet emphasizes the enriching experience of training and competing alongside their Fijian counterparts.

Captain Shiv expressed gratitude to everyone who facilitated their journey, highlighting a strong desire to learn from Fijian rugby legends. “With our experience, it just started and it’s going very well. We came here to learn a lot with the legends of rugby who played with us already in the RFL (Rugby Premier League),” he stated. This trip is not just about their participation in the tournament but also about growing as players through exposure to Fijian rugby.

The natural beauty of Fiji, coupled with the warm hospitality of its people, has left a significant impression on the players. Shiv described the experience as “just a good experience,” marveling at the stunning scenery and climate. “We would like to stay for a few more days here, but we don’t have time,” he added, expressing a wish to explore more of the country during their limited stay.

The Chennai Bulls previously included Fijian players like Joseva Talacolo and Filipe Sauturaga in their lineup, enhancing their connection to the island’s rich rugby tradition. As they participate in the tournament, the camaraderie and shared experiences with local players emphasize the unity and passion that rugby instills across cultures. Overall, this trip not only showcases their commitment to the sport but also fosters a deep appreciation for the cultural exchange between the teams.
