Telecom Fiji Limited, in collaboration with the Fiji Cancer Society (FCS), recently wrapped up the annual Telecom Fiji Charity Golf Tournament, which took place last month at the Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva. This event, now in its third consecutive year, attracted enthusiastic golfers, community leaders, and supporters, raising an impressive $33,420—the highest total in the tournament’s history.
Telecom Fiji has consistently backed this important initiative, and this year’s fundraising achievement exceeded past totals, including $25,137 in 2023 and $19,288 in 2022. This increase underscores the event’s growing significance and the generosity of its participants.
The funds raised will enable the Fiji Cancer Society to bolster its outreach programs, improve resources, and enhance patient support services. This includes acquiring essential medical equipment for cancer testing, diagnosis, and treatment. Additionally, in conjunction with the Movember initiative, the tournament featured complimentary PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) screenings, underscoring the importance of early detection and preventive healthcare.
Charles Goundar, CEO of Telecom Fiji, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to support the FCS, stating, “This tournament is more than just a game—it’s a community commitment to fighting cancer. We’re proud to stand with FCS in making a tangible difference.”
Belinda Chan, CEO of the Fiji Cancer Society, emphasized the importance of combining sports with cancer awareness efforts, noting that every swing at the tournament contributes to reducing the burden of cancer in the community. She extended her gratitude to Telecom Fiji and all sponsors for their generous support that made the event possible.
