Two security guards who were charged with the murder of a 29-year-old man were released yesterday after the Director of Public Prosecutions dropped the charges against them. Semi Tamanivalu, 25, and Leone Matai, 43, appeared in the High Court in Suva before Justice Usaia Ratuvili. The guards were working at a Suva supermarket when they allegedly assaulted the victim under the suspicion of theft. A post-mortem examination indicated that the victim suffered severe injuries from the alleged assault, which is believed to have led to his death.
