A police officer who was previously facing 13 sexual offense charges now has nine counts against him. The 40-year-old, who is married with three children, received the updated charges from the State. Allegations suggest he committed these offenses against his 13-year-old cousin.
In court today, he pleaded not guilty to all nine charges as outlined by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). DPP attorney Monisha Naidu asked for additional time to finalize the pretrial conference, while Joji Cakau represented the defense. Both lawyers are expected to meet soon to complete the pretrial arrangements.
The officer’s bail has been extended, and the case has been rescheduled for November 5.
