A new champion is set to be determined in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka this weekend, as the defending champions Ba have been eliminated following a 1-1 draw against Rewa in their final group match.
The team, coached by Timoci Seru, had a lackluster tournament, finishing with only two points and scoring just one goal across three matches.
Before the match, Ba needed a victory by a margin of two goals to keep their hopes alive. However, Rewa took an early lead with a third-minute free-kick from Patrick Joseph, only for Nabil Begg to equalize from the penalty spot in the 11th minute.
As a result of this match, Nadi has advanced to the semifinals scheduled for Saturday. Rewa, sponsored by Extra Supermarket, finished as the top team in Group B and will compete in the second semifinal. Meanwhile, Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi secured the runner-up position and will participate in the first semifinal.
