A new champion will be established at the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka this weekend, following the exit of the incumbent winners, Ba. The team concluded its group stage with a 1-1 draw against Rewa in their final match.
Under the guidance of coach Timoci Seru, Ba’s performance in the tournament was disappointing, as they only secured two points and scored once across three matches.
Entering the match, Ba needed a victory by a margin of two goals. However, Rewa took an early lead with a free-kick from Patrick Joseph just three minutes in. Nabil Begg responded for Ba with a penalty equalizer in the 11th minute.
The outcome allows Nadi to advance to the semifinals set for Saturday. Rewa, sponsored by Extra Supermarket, emerges as the winner of Group B and will compete in the second semifinal, while Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi finishes as runner-up and will participate in the first semifinal.
