Celebrations and Picnics: How Families Embraced a Day of Togetherness

Many individuals took the opportunity to celebrate Prophet Muhammad’s birthday yesterday through various activities and worship, both at home and in mosques, while others opted to enjoy the public holiday at picnic locations across the country. The pleasant weather, characterized by sunshine and light breezes, made it an ideal day for families to gather outdoors.

Among those partaking in the festivities were members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church. Their day began with a morning service followed by team-building activities, including a potluck lunch. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor, Suresh Kumar, expressed that the turnout and engagement in the activities were impressive. “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get-together,” she stated.

The church community enjoyed a delicious lunch accompanied by games such as spoon races, apple and bun eating contests, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and concluded their day with swimming.

At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, also made the most of the holiday. Family member Kibae noted that the picnic was an excellent break from the routine of school and work. His 15-year-old son, Caleb Ueanimaraki, shared that the outing was a much-needed occasion for relaxation before returning to school.
