A national celebration will take place for Team Fiji, where the Coalition Government will distribute the promised financial rewards. Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, made this announcement during a traditional welcoming ceremony for the Fiji Men’s and Women’s 7s teams in Nadi yesterday.
The government previously declared incentives of $50,000 for gold medalists, $20,000 for silver medalists, and $10,000 for bronze medalists. Since the Fiji Men’s 7s team secured a silver medal, Saukuru confirmed they will receive the promised $20,000.
He assured the team that the funds would be disbursed after the remainder of Team Fiji, who are currently in Paris, returns home. Minister Saukuru congratulated both teams for their achievements and expressed his hopes for further success in the future.
