Many people celebrated Prophet Muhammad’s birthday yesterday through various events and prayers at home and in mosques, while others took advantage of the public holiday for picnics across the nation. The sunny and breezy weather made it an ideal day for family outings.
Members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church were among those enjoying the day. They started with a service, followed by team bonding activities that included a potluck lunch. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor, Suresh Kumar, expressed that the turnout was impressive and the activities highly engaging. She noted, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together,” adding that they enjoyed a hearty lunch and games such as spoon races, apple and bun eating contests, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and concluded the day with swimming.
At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu also enjoyed a picnic. Father Kibae stated that it was a perfect break from school and work. Fifteen-year-old Caleb Ueanimaraki shared that the trip was refreshing, saying, “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school.”
