Many people celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad yesterday through various planned activities and worship at home and in mosques, while others took the opportunity to enjoy the public holiday at picnic locations across the country. The beautiful sunny and breezy day provided an ideal setting for family outings.
One of the groups embracing this day were members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church. Their day commenced with a church service, followed by team bonding activities, including a potluck lunch. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor, Suresh Kumar, expressed that the turnout and the events were engaging. “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get-together,” she stated. The day was filled with fun activities such as spoon races, eating contests with apples and buns, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and concluded with swimming.
At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, also enjoyed their picnic, which dad Kibae described as a perfect break from school and work. His son, 15-year-old Caleb Ueanimaraki, noted that the trip was a relaxing one. “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school,” he shared.
