Celebrating Together: Families Enjoy a Day of Fun Amidst Traditions

Many people celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad yesterday with planned activities and worship in homes and mosques, while others took advantage of the public holiday to enjoy picnics at various locations across the country. The sunny and breezy weather made it an ideal day for family outings.

Among the picnickers was the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church, where members started their day with a service before engaging in team bonding activities, including a potluck lunch. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor, Suresh Kumar, expressed enthusiasm about the day’s turnout and activities, saying, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together.” She highlighted that they enjoyed a variety of games such as spoon races, apple and bun eating contests, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and swimming.

At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, also spent the day in leisure. According to family member Kibae, the picnic offered a perfect escape from their school and work routines. Fifteen-year-old Caleb Ueanimaraki remarked that the trip provided a much-needed chance to relax before returning to school.

The Hedstrom family enjoyed the beautiful weather together, with parents Kibae and Teria smiling alongside their children, Caleb, Nuaru, Samual, Allan, and Norburt, as they soaked in the sun at Suva Point.
