Civil Service Week has highlighted the dedication, hard work, and unity that embody the civil service, according to Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru. Speaking at Lautoka’s Churchill Park on Friday during the close of Civil Service Week and the start of Exhibition Week, Mr. Saukuru praised the essential role civil servants play.
“You are the nuts and bolts of the government machinery, ensuring that public service is of an excellent and acceptable standard,” Mr. Saukuru stated. “The civil service is nothing without you in it. You make things happen. Your services, no matter how small, enable the Government to implement its mandate to govern the country and its people.”
He emphasized that every role, from drivers and support staff to policy directors and permanent secretaries, is crucial in fulfilling governmental duties. “Government represents order and governance; through your contribution, you help us in government foster a progressive Fiji,” Mr. Saukuru explained.
Reflecting on the profound impact of civil servants’ work, Mr. Saukuru noted, “Today’s exhibition is a showcase of the diverse and dynamic work carried out by our government ministries. It is a platform for us to highlight the achievements, initiatives, and services provided by the various departments. It is also an opportunity to engage with the public, to educate and inform them about the vital work we do, and to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the civil service.”
