Former students of St Anne’s Primary School held a march in Suva yesterday morning to celebrate the school’s 120th anniversary.
The alumni organized a week-long series of events to commemorate the institution’s history, which featured performances from current students, a formal ball, and a church service scheduled for today.
Miliana Caginavanua, the school’s head teacher, expressed that the celebration brought together alumni, students, and parents, fostering a strong sense of unity and sisterhood.
“I’d like to thank the old scholars for contributing their expertise, and they have committed to supporting us for years to come,” Ms. Caginavanua remarked.
She noted that the alumni have pledged ongoing assistance, which includes financial contributions, administrative support, and volunteering their skills and time.
Graduates from various eras have donated resources to the school, such as two laptops for teachers, curtains for the library, solar lights, and books.
Ms. Caginavanua also mentioned that the preparations for the anniversary celebrations were integrated into the school’s curriculum, ensuring that all subjects were covered in advance of the event.
She underscored the importance of community involvement and support for the success of the celebrations and future initiatives at the school.
