The High Commissioner of Fiji to New Zealand, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, highlighted the vital roles of seniors and the importance of Fijian heritage during the joint celebrations for the International Day for Older Persons and Fiji Day.
Speaking at the A1 Event Centre in Papatoetoe, he expressed gratitude to the Fiji Girmit Foundation for fostering unity among seniors.
“Fiji Day is not just a celebration of our rich heritage but also a demonstration of the resilience of the Fijian community in New Zealand. Your commitment enhances our cultural landscape and bolsters the greater New Zealand society,” stated Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.
With Fiji Day approaching on October 19 at Mangere Centre Park, he urged the community to embrace their cultural identity and the strength of Fijians in New Zealand, emphasizing how their commitment enriches society as a whole.
He also encouraged young people to honor their heritage and uphold the legacy left by their ancestors.
Mr. Kubuabola called for solidarity with those in Fiji, advocating for charitable support and connections to their homeland.
The Fiji Missions, through Public Diplomacy Programs such as Fiji Day, aim to strengthen ties with the Fijian diaspora while promoting national pride and unity.
