Many people celebrated Prophet Muhammad’s birthday yesterday with planned activities and worship at homes and mosques, while others enjoyed the public holiday at various picnic spots across the country. The sunny and breezy weather made it an ideal day for family outings.
Members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church were among those out enjoying the day. They began with a church service, followed by team bonding activities and a potluck lunch. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the church’s senior pastor Suresh Kumar, remarked on the engaging turnout, stating, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together.” She added, “We had a good lunch, and participated in games such as spoon races, apple and bun eating, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and swimming.”
At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, also took advantage of the holiday. Father Kibae described the picnic as a perfect break from school and work. His 15-year-old son Caleb Ueanimaraki shared that the trip was a relaxing experience, saying, “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school.”
