Celebrating a Century: Ratu Kadavulevu School’s Legacy and Future

Hundreds of alumni from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) gathered at Albert Park to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the chief guest, emphasized the considerable influence the school has had since its inception in 1924. He commended RKS for its century-long legacy and its contributions to the nation’s progress through the notable individuals it has produced. The week-long festivities will include a variety of activities and sports competitions.

RKS, named after Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, the great-grandson of Ratu Cakobau, boasts a proud and rich history that the community is celebrating. The events commenced with a church service at the Centenary Church in Suva on Sunday.

Today’s event, called “Training and Investment Opportunity,” will take place from 5:30 PM to 11 PM at the Suva Civic Centre, offering support to alumni facing employment challenges through various ministry-led sessions.

Tomorrow (Wednesday), the Wellness and Sports Day will be held at Albert Park at 3 PM, featuring a competition between neighboring all-boys boarding schools, RKS and Queen Victoria School.

On Thursday, a traditional ceremony will be organized to educate current students about cultural heritage, with the Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, serving as the chief guest. This will be followed by the school pass-out parade, with Ro Jone Kalouniwai, the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, as the honored guest.

Prime Minister Rabuka also urged the school community and parents to collaborate with the government in combating drug abuse, expressing his hope that RKS will continue to serve as a source of hope and positively impact Fiji in the years to come.
