Swami Vivekananda College celebrated its 75th anniversary on Monday, marking a significant milestone in its history.
During the event, Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu emphasized the importance of reflection for everyone associated with the institution. He urged attendees to continue guiding the college effectively and to honor the values and achievements that define it.
“The college has delivered quality education to the youth in this community, significantly contributing to the development of Malolo, Nadi, and neighboring areas,” he stated.
He highlighted the rich history of the college, noting that this celebration was an opportunity to recognize its impressive accomplishments. Swami Vivekananda College began its journey in 1949 as Shri Vivekananda High School with only 19 students and has since grown to serve over 1,000 students today.
Vanawalu expressed gratitude to the founders for their vision and commitment in establishing the school, mentioning key figures like Swami Rudrananda, Mr. A.D. Patel, Sadhu Kuppuswami, and other community leaders who laid the groundwork for its success.
The theme of the celebration, “Celebrating 75 Years of Youth Empowerment and Nation Building,” reflects the college’s mission and values. Vanawalu concluded by expressing confidence that the college has nurtured numerous talented students who have excelled in academics and contributed to cultural and creative endeavors over the years.
