Many people celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad yesterday with planned activities and worship at homes and mosques, while others took advantage of the public holiday to enjoy picnics in various locations across the country. The sunny and breezy weather provided an ideal backdrop for family outings.
Among the revelers was the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church, whose members participated in a service followed by team bonding activities, including a potluck lunch. Arveena Kumar, wife of the church’s senior pastor Suresh Kumar, noted the engaging turnout and activities, stating, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get-together.”
The group enjoyed a hearty lunch and engaged in various games such as spoon races, apple and bun eating contests, duck and wheelbarrow races, touch rugby, and concluded the day with swimming.
At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu, also took the opportunity to picnic, with father Kibae describing it as a perfect break from school and work. Fifteen-year-old Caleb Ueanimaraki mentioned that the outing was relaxing, saying, “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school.”
