Catalyzing Growth: Yatule Resort Unveils $5 Million Transformation

Damend Gounder, the managing director of Yatule Resort and Spa and Tour Managers Fiji group, reflected on the important role played by key stakeholders in fostering an environment where local businesses can succeed. He made these remarks at the launch of the $5 million renovated Yatule Resort and Spa located in Natadola, Sigatoka, on Monday.

Mr. Gounder emphasized that the results of this collaborative approach are evident in the revamped resort, which not only generates significant financial returns but also presents exciting avenues for growth and development. He highlighted the importance of such partnerships for the long-term sustainability of smaller enterprises in Fiji.

“As Tour Managers, we are proud of our progress, but we are not complacent. Our aim is to enhance our network and management capabilities,” he stated.

Viliame Vodonaivalu, the chief executive officer of the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), pointed out that this initiative would benefit fund members while also positively impacting the broader economy. He recounted that the Yatule Beach Resort was initially established in 2005 to provide accommodation for consultants and contractors involved in the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa project.

After the completion of the golf resort, the Yatule Beach Resort was transformed into a bungalow-style accommodation featuring just 11 bures, along with a restaurant and bar. The resort benefits from a prime location next to the internationally recognized Natadola Beach. Vodonaivalu noted that Tour Managers’ collaboration with FNPF involved a lease and operational agreement for the Yatule Resort, aimed at meeting global travel demands and creating job opportunities.
