A carpenter faces a prolonged wait for his judgment in connection with the alleged murder of his 78-year-old father. Armugam Goundar, aged 49, appeared before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull in Suva, where the decision on his case was adjourned to January 31, 2025.
The charges against Goundar stem from an incident believed to have occurred in 2022, during which he was reportedly intoxicated. Following the alleged offense, Mr. Goundar transported his father to the Nausori Health Center. Medical personnel observed visible injuries on the elderly victim and subsequently reported the incident to officials in the Health Ministry.
Mr. Goundar is currently represented by Lawyer Jerry Dinati.
This situation underscores the gravity of domestic violence and its tragic consequences, reminding the community of the need for support systems for individuals facing such crises. While the delay in judgment can be distressing for all parties involved, it also emphasizes the thoroughness of the legal process in seeking justice.
In summary, Armugam Goundar’s case will be decided next January, underlining the complex issues surrounding familial relationships and broader societal challenges regarding violence.
