CARPENTERS Fiji Ltd held a heartwarming Christmas celebration for children battling cancer as well as those from orphanages in Suva, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Pawan Sharma, the general manager of Global Business Improvement at Carpenters, described this event as an annual tradition for the company. “Every year, we commemorate Christmas with orphanages and the Fiji Cancer Society. Ever since we started MHCC, we’ve done that every year,” he stated. This event aims not only to celebrate the holiday spirit but also to support and uplift those in the community who are less fortunate.
Approximately 125 children from organizations such as Dilkusha Home, WOWS Kids Fiji, and the Happy Home Trust, along with their families, enjoyed a festive day filled with entertainment, ice cream, sweets, cakes, gifts, and a delicious lunch. The lunch was generously provided by various food court tenants and sponsors, including Shiva’s Restaurant, Sri Lankan Restaurant, Joji’s, Huang Ji R888, Lunchbox, and DMC.
An emotional mother of three, Ema Nasome, expressed her gratitude to Carpenters for organizing the event. Her six-year-old son, Sakiusa Vakalala, who has been dealing with health challenges, was part of the WOWS Kids group. “This is the first time for us to attend, and it really makes a big difference to their lives,” she said.
This event emphasizes the importance of community support and compassion during the festive season, showcasing how corporate responsibility initiatives can have a meaningful impact on individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
