Carpenters Fiji Ltd hosted a heartfelt Christmas celebration for children battling cancer and those from orphanages in Suva, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to corporate social responsibility. Pawan Sharma, the company’s general manager of Global Business Improvement, highlighted that this gathering has become an annual tradition since the inception of their MHCC initiative.
“This event is a way for us to join in the Christmas spirit with those who are less fortunate and make them feel remembered,” Sharma stated. The party welcomed approximately 125 children from Dilkusha Home, WOWS Kids Fiji, and the Happy Home Trust, along with their families, treating them to various festivities including entertainment, ice cream, sweets, cakes, gifts, and lunch.
The lunch was generously catered by local sponsors, including Shiva’s Restaurant, Sri Lankan Restaurant, Joji’s, Huang Ji R888, Lunchbox, and DMC. Emotional responses from attendees reflected the positive impact of the event, as Ema Nasome, a mother of three whose son is part of the WOWS Kids group, expressed her gratitude. “This is the first time for us to attend, and it really makes a significant difference to their lives,” Nasome shared, underscoring the importance of community support during challenging times.
This initiative exemplifies how businesses can make meaningful contributions to their communities, especially during the holiday season, fostering hope and joy among vulnerable groups.
By organizing such events, Carpenters Fiji Ltd not only spreads festive cheer but also strengthens community bonds, reminding us all of the power of kindness and compassion during the holidays.
