CARPENTERS Fiji Ltd hosted a heartwarming Christmas celebration for children battling cancer and those living in orphanages around Suva, showcasing the company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The event, a long-standing tradition for Carpenters, was organized to bring joy to these children who are often in difficult circumstances.
Pawan Sharma, the general manager of Global Business Improvement at Carpenters, highlighted the significance of this yearly gathering. “Every year, we celebrate Christmas with orphanages and the Fiji Cancer Society. This tradition has continued since we opened MHCC,” he explained. The purpose of the event is to ensure that these children, along with their families, feel remembered and valued during the festive season.
Approximately 125 children from institutions such as Dilkusha Home, WOWS Kids Fiji, and the Happy Home Trust enjoyed a day filled with entertainment, delicious food, ice cream, sweets, cakes, and gifts. The meals were generously provided by local food court tenants, including Shiva’s Restaurant, Sri Lankan Restaurant, Joji’s, Huang Ji R888, Lunchbox, and DMC, demonstrating community support.
Ema Nasome, a mother of three whose son, Sakiusa Vakalala, has faced significant health challenges, expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the organizers. “This is the first time for us to attend, and it really makes a big difference in their lives,” she shared, illustrating the positive impact such events have on families.
Events like this not only spread joy but also foster a sense of community and compassion, reminding us of the importance of supporting one another, especially during the holiday season.
This uplifting initiative reinforces the spirit of giving and serves as a reminder that everyone can contribute to making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
