David Campese, the legendary Wallaby, has recognized Flying Fijians players Caleb Muntz and Josua Tuisova in his Team of the Week following their standout performances in the Autumn Test Series over the weekend. The 15-player selection is predominantly filled with athletes from the southern hemisphere, a reflection of their recent successes while leaving the Six Nations teams largely winless, with the exception of France.
Campese praised Fiji’s remarkable display against Wales in Cardiff, attributing much of their success to the inclusion of their European-based players. He highlighted Muntz’s impressive scoring of 19 points as a pivotal factor that enabled Fiji to secure the victory over Wales, emphasizing that Muntz significantly challenged the Welsh defense. Tuisova’s aggressive playing style further kept the Welsh defenders on their toes, contributing to the team’s overall effectiveness.
Additionally, Joseph Suaalii, who debuted with the Wallabies, also made it onto the list for his impressive contribution in Australia’s 42-37 victory against England.
Campo’s Best XV includes: Willie Le Roux, Andrew Kellaway, Joseph Suaalii, Josua Tuisova, Makazole Mapimpi, Caleb Muntz, Antoine Dupont, Ardie Savea, Fraser McReight, Chandler Cunningham-South, Jeremy Williams, Eben Etzebeth, Thomas du Toit, Dewi Lake, and Angus Bell.
This recognition of Fiji’s talent showcases the growing prominence of Pacific Island rugby on the global stage, and it serves as a testament to the value of international collaboration in sports. The inclusion of Suaalii also reflects the exciting new talent emerging in the Wallabies, offering fans a hopeful glimpse into the future of professional rugby.
