David Campese, the celebrated Wallaby legend, has recognized the outstanding performances of Flying Fijians Caleb Muntz and Josua Tuisova by including them in his team of the week following the recent round of the Autumn Test Series.
This week’s 15-man selection is heavily influenced by Southern Hemisphere teams, which showcased their dominance, leaving Six Nations sides struggling, with the exception of France.
Campese praised Fiji’s remarkable display against Wales, attributing their success significantly to Muntz, who scored 19 points and played a crucial role in the victory by ‘putting Wales to the sword.’ He also highlighted Tuisova’s aggressive style, which kept the Welsh defense on high alert throughout the match.
In addition to the Fijians, Wallabies debutant Joseph Suaalii earned a spot on the list thanks to his impactful performance in Australia’s thrilling 42-37 victory over England.
Campese’s Best XV includes:
Willie Le Roux, Andrew Kellaway, Joseph Suaalii, Josua Tuisova, Makazole Mapimpi, Caleb Muntz, Antoine Dupont, Ardie Savea, Fraser McReight, Chandler Cunningham-South, Jeremy Williams, Eben Etzebeth, Thomas du Toit, Dewi Lake, and Angus Bell.
This recognition not only highlights the talent emerging from the Southern Hemisphere but also provides a source of pride for Fiji’s rugby program, showcasing their capability to compete at the highest levels when bolstered by key players. The future looks bright for these athletes as they continue to shine on the international stage.
